Aluminum People

In the beginning, we created the wax paper and the foil; and the wax and the foil were without form and void; and darkness was on the face of the aluminum; and the Spirit of Glad said, "Let there be life!" and there was life. Behold! It is good!

Wow, I am totally taken by surprise. I have never seen any of these production stills. Hi, guys. Titos Menchaca here. I mean, I remember them being taken, but never knew how to get hold of anyone re: getting some. John and Don, I can’t tell you how many people (of all ages, because there are whole new generations of Clash fans out there) are just amazed and delighted when they find out I was the Sheik. And they love hearing behind-the-scene stories of the shoot. It’s hard to believe this video has maintained its popularity for so many years. Or, maybe not, as it’s just as relevant today as ever.

Hope you guys are both doing well. I’m back in Austin. And on FB.

This is Claude. I was on the set at the oil rig, along with David Boone and Sandy McLeod. The Clash along with the crew ate out of the back of my Volvo station wagon. Do you remember the camera operator? It was none other than Barry Sonnenfeld! He owned an Aaton, which was top of the line at the time. I would love to interview you for the site sometime. Just let me know! Good to hear from you!

Hi Claude, oh yes, I remember Barry very well. Him and his bad jokes. I’d love to do an interview anytime. My office is just around the corner from yours on Freidrich Lane.

I can also probably get you in touch with Dennis Razze, if you’d like.

        Cool site.
